Oh, and I still don't know what or who Edlau is talking about… all I see is @name @name and a sentence that begins without a clear subject. So who changed his screen name? Who is a poser? It's a conversational item that may refer to a discussion that happened yesterday, but there are no clear references either. And if I delve further, I may not find out.

I was expressing frustration with Twitter that just seems to be a mess of incoherent twitterings, one statement on the screen that has no connection with the next or (often) any of the posts on the screen.

It might make sense to some readers but then it completely doesn't make sense to anyone outside the circle. And that's Twitter. It's one open clique. You get to view, you can even participate… but for most followers, you're just watching the whole thing.

So, Michael, don't be offended. I wasn't including you in that statement at all. Still, I reserve my own judgment about Twitter. I just don't get it. But then, I think to get it, you have to be 'In the club'… and I'm not. So perhaps it's sour grapes on my part. If you have taken offense, then I'm sorry that my remarks did that. But I stand by my statement: What is the point of Twitter? I get much of the rest of Web 2.0, but I rather think that Twitter is going to go through this hype phase, come ouf the other and people are collectively going to yawn "Twitter" and go on to the next big thing.

Who knows. However, do remember: what is being said on Twitter is on a VERY public forum, may not contain any of the niceties of context or community; and the potential for spreading viruses and malware is a serious one. Since most people use it on their phones, phone viruses are even more of a likely channel of
infection. Users shouldn't use tinyurl EVER. For that reason.

Oh, and Michael. I should be dropping by your blog more often: I have been doing my own kinds of things with other sites… I quit Payperpost finally in January. And your blog has taken on a slightly different direction since last year… Since I'm not a gamer, or much of a techie or interested in sport, I kind of drifted away from your blog. I should put your blog back on my 'regular' list!

Regarding the use of tinyurl, TweetDeck is a desktop client that allows for the previewing of any shortened URL. This way, you can see the long (full) URL before clicking through.

And yes, regarding my blog, I've started to shift the focus more on the business of working from home, freelance writing, personal and professional development, and that kind of thing. I'm glad to hear you'll be popping by again.

I'm mildly offended by that comment. As I recall, you used to comment on my blog on a reasonably regular basis.
