It’s been a tough few months on the stock market in 2009. Many portfolios have been reduced by 50% or more. Update: In an effort to create something more useful, I’m reducing the number of articles in each issue by providing as much variety of content. With so many articles on “making money online blogs”, sales and letter writing, I’m now reducing the number presented to balance the other content. There are changes afoot, as you may have surmised.

I’m now working on separating several sub-blogs on this blog to separate blogs in the near future. To that end, and to prevent further incessant spamming on this blog, all commenting has been turned off. The spamming of this blog is getting ridiculous. I don’t have adequate anti-spam tools in place at the moment, so it’s easier not to deal with the problem.

Blogging Travails has moved to its own blog @ eeeblogger.com.
PF has moved to dollartraveler.com
Carnivals and Top-20 has moved to makingrealmoneyblog.com (which is already PR1).
Sticky Rice has been discontinued for the time being and merged with Obblogatory.com

InvestorBlogger Dot Com will remerge the existing posts from the sub-blogs into its primary thread. Then posting will continue as before. There is much to discuss and much to discover. Additionally, the ‘new’ blog will be converted to WordPress 2.7 and will be much easier to maintain as a result. WordPress MU was an interesting experiment, but not really worth the hassle and the limitations. WordPress original now makes file and plugin much easier than ever obviating the need for WordPress MU for those of us who maintain several or more blogs.

So, that’s it until 2009. Best Wishes, Keep Warm and have a happy holiday. Apologies for the break in posts in the meantime. But I hope it will be worth it.

I’ve finally moved these two sub-blogs back to their own full-domain site. It just didn’t seem that things were working out on InvestorBlogger Dot Com. Having minor blogs like those just didn’t seem to be adding much to the blogs main site, and was destroying any intrinsic value they had in their own right.

So I decided to move them to their own domain.

You can now find both Top 20 Money Making Feeds and Blog Carnivals (Both DotCom and Making REAL Money) on their new (and permanent) home.

So visit them now. They’re pretty good. I’ll be moving several of my other blogs in a similar fashion over the next few weeks.

Five Stories for the First Week of September 2008

In the new month, we’ve been quite busy on new posts, so Dollar Traveler has been much more active than Blogging Travails. I’ll try to pick some of the best posts: in all, there were over 15 posts this week.

In blogging, the big news was the launch of Chrome from Google as a fairly polished and minimalist browser set to challenge both FF and IE.

In finance, we are pondering the next president’s economic policies and inviting debate on who will be better for the US and world economy. InvestorBlogger also reached its second birthday and we celebrated ‘a little’. Of course, with us nearly reaching a milestone in several ways, we posted the next story on the Dow Jones Series: Johnson and Johnson. The Dow has been on a wild ride this week: who knows how it will finish the week! We also looked at a simple tool for converting currencies.

InvestorBlogger finally created a static home page for the main blog, linking to the feature articles. I’ve sitll go to work on the actual pages at the footer, but the new site is finally becoming a coherent whole with identifiable streams of content. It’s quite exciting!

Finding your publicity on InvestorBlogger!

Ever since I launched InvestorBlogger in its first incarnation about three years ago, I have recognized how difficult it is to get traffic for new blogs. InvestorBlogger therefore offers a number of easy ways to get traffic that bloggers should know about.

So if you have a blog, and you’d like a little extra publicity, try these…

#1: Sign up for a BlogBuzz with your Blog.

#2: Comment on a post in this blog, leave your URL or blog in the post, I’ll reply to your comment and follow your link to post a comment there within 72 hours (Comment4Comment!).

#3: Comment more than 10 times and get a do-follow link to your blog! That’s find 10 great posts and leave a meaningful comment there so that future readers follow your link!

#4: Use your entrecard points to ‘buy’ a slot on my EntreCard place. Currently it’s only 16 credits to get an ad! That’s cheap! And you’ll show up in two places if you drop your card anytime!

#5: Submit your link to my blogroll by placing a link on your blog or website! It’s easy and quick to do.

Welcome to the 19th edition of the Carnival of Making REAL Money. We were pleased to whittle the 136 submissions down to a little over twenty, and provide you with the best articles in the blogging world.

On submitting

The editor of this Carnival is always delighted to welcome articles for submission. However, submitters would do well to read the current carnival policy. While some of those who submitted to this Carnival may wonder what happened to the other 110 articles, unfortunately, a large number of submissions simply failed to meet the requirements of the carnival or BlogCarnival itself, that is:

articles must be UNIQUE and APPROPRIATE, all articles WILL be searched for;
comments must be OPEN without registration – so that this blog Carnival can be fully participatory;
only one article per blog per person may be submitted – if you submitted more than two articles, ALL were removed from consideration;
articles must be available for inspection at the time of creation of the Carnival, otherwise they will be removed from consideration.
