Nile, you might be right! But Google isn't gaining traction in some areas... I think they would like us to think that they are going to buy out the 'web' but Google is becoming an established player, and its track record is spotty in many ways. Size is usually an entrepreneur's worst enemy when the company becomes a multi-billion dollar affair!

It does seem that google is taking on the world, and winning. I am also concerned that the quality of info the web has the 'potential' to display is going to turn to goo over the coming years as web sites intentionally upload pages and pages of content garbage to increase website visibility.

Agreed 99.9% of people really don't know, and don't CARE about Page Rank. After all, what is Page Rank anyway? It's only what Google thinks is important. And that is largely restricted to the English speaking world in America... What about websites in other countries...? Their PR rankings (even for well known websites in those countries) are surprisingly weak.

Unfortunately, your ignorance of the whole situation is quite astounding if you think PR means that a website isn't a splog. Or that a blog (like this one) is a splog. Or that a 'Quality' site means you have a high PR rank.

More importantly, what happened to many of the bloggers can happen to anyone now. I'm fortunate: my blog has only less than 5% of traffic from Google, I couldn't care less if it goes to zero, either. But many webmasters RELY exclusively on Google for Traffic. So I challenge YOU: How much of your traffic comes from Google?

Oh, and by the way, leaving a fake email address a no-no.

Hahaha! 99.99% of people don't even know what page rank is, it's only SEOs and people selling crap on their blogs who do. Google has spanked all you splogs. Haha.

BTW my blog went from PR0 to PR5, so the page rank update was a good thing as it moved all the splogs off page 1 and 2 ;-)

If you have a plan of action I'd love to hear what it is. I too have ceased my use of Google Services. Goodbye Google!

I'm adding this post to the list of links I have in my post today.

Yeah, it's a real problem, so I think you can just act with knowledge of your own conscience. If you feel bad that you don't have PR, then don't accept an opp that requires it. I would reckon that this whole situation is already well known to them... So don't worry about it.

I'm already making little changes to my ecosystem of bloggging with respect to Google... Because, simply, Google's hegemony is partly a result of my own actions. So I simply cease to use their services as much as possible, then it will make life a little harder for them. I am stubborn, though (as my wife tells me)...

Thanks for linking to my post, Kenneth. I purposely didn't use the word "G***le" in the title because I didn't want to bring further wrath down upon my blogs. What I'm having the hardest time with now is understanding how to proceed from here. I don't know if I should keep taking assignments from companies like Review Me and Sponsored Reviews, because they still think my blogs have Rank, when they don't. I don't know what to do about my Gmail account, because I have advertisers who contact me through it, and it's such a pain to move everyone over to a different email address. I don't want to make rash decisions when I don't really know what's going on. But I HATE not knowing what's going on!
