Agreed. I do still visit from time to time but I may just begin using an RSS reader for the articles. I’m on a DSL connection and from time to time it’s still painfully slow. I’m curious to see what his traffic stats will look like in 30 days. We all know his profits will have increased so I doubt he’ll be disappointed in that!

Oh, his current frontpage is now a little over 1.2mb, making it much more readable. But still it’s a lot.

John is actually quite generous in many ways esp. to new bloggers and those in his slipstream, but it is HIS blog… so I figure if that’s how he wants to do it, let him. It’s an experiment. But I do think he underestimates how important readers are, and how readers have a sense of co-ownership… Loyalty is important to bloggers.

Even if he does, the big green monster’s already taken hold. I’m more surprised we haven’t heard any updates from his “unknown” blog. I’m not trying to bash him or anything, but I figured bloggers normally blogged for the blogging aspect and not for the money. But I can be naive sometimes hah!

Yep, well I sent him a link to this post. I hope he’ll read it… but perhaps he won’t! Oh, well. I’m reading his articles on Reader software now. I can’t look at his website… It’s just too awful.

yea I did the same thing, a lot of readers search his layout and load times and css styles etc – there are issues with his divs and styles as well – but it LOOKs great for the regular readers

I was disappointed to see his new blog theme. It’s too bulky and reeks of “sell-out”. I can understand his drive to outperform last months’ revenue, but there comes a point where you’re sacrificing content for greed. I’ve gone through his archives and compared them to his current articles and it feels as if he’s blogging just for the money and not for the love of blogging as he used to. To each their own I guess.
