My son began teaching himself math at the age of three. By the time he was in grade school he had been identified as "gifted and talented" in many areas, but math and logic have always been his forte. What does he do today? He' a gambler. He works in a casino as a dealer, but most of his income comes from gambling. Poker is his game, so reading his opponents and understanding human nature certainly figure in, but math and logic are the backbone of all games of chance. There are those who think I should want him to aspire to "something more." Why should I? He's happy, he's doing something that he loves and he's using the unique talents he's been honing since he was a toddler. He's exactly where he wants and needs to be.
